Legendary film producer and studio executive Harvey Weinstein has been accused of groping a 22-year-old Italian woman inside the Tribeca Film Center in Manhattan.
The New York Daily News is reporting that the woman told police that Weinstein grabbed her genitals and breasts around 6 pm on Friday night.
Police are currently investigating the incident and no charges have been filed as of yet.
"He initiated the contact," a source who claims to have witnessed the alleged assault tells the Daily News. "He saw her and spoke to her. She didn’t know who he was until he approached her."
The co-founder of both Miramax films and The Weinstein Company, Weinstein has produced dozens of hit movies and he famously helped usher in the "independent era" of Hollywood in the early ’90s.
Weinstein has been married to fashion designer Georgina Chapman since 2007 and the couple has two children together.
Weinstein’s reps have yet to reply to the Daily News’ request for comment.
The Manhattan district attorney’s office will reportedly determine whether or not charges should be filed against Weinstein some time this week.
Weinstein recently made headlines for speaking at various anti-bigotry events and urging the global Jewish community to "get organized like the Mafia" to combat anti-semitism.
