Tuesday on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills Season 5 Episode 14, a "Suprirse" birthday party tested Brandi Glanville’s dubious resolve to go alcohol free.

Speaking of difficult situations, tensions ran high for the Richards sisters, as Kim’s sobriety (or lack thereof) continued to be a point of contention in the 90210.

One wonders what Kim’s situation truly is like and how much of this is hyped up just to give us something to talk about this season, but we digress.

When The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills Season 5 Episode 14 gets going, Brandi tells Yolanda she is on a 21 day cleanse, meaning she cannot drink.

We give it 21 hours. She’s going to prove to the rest of the cast members that she’s no alcoholic, but notes that she is grateful for Xanax. Well, yeah.

At least Brandi didn’t call out Bella Hadid for her DUI or Kim for doing crystal meth (both have happened in the past, so maybe the cleanse is a good thing.

Meanwhile, Lisa Vanderpump and Kyle Richards are doing their requisite worrying about Kim and bashing of Brandi. Over tea, which makes it so classy.

Eileen Davidson and her husband Vince are reading a script he is obviously using the show to push, and Lisa Rinna is somehow involved in this as well.

As they prepare for their "script reading" get together, we learn Ken is planning a surprise party for Lisa Vanderpump … and he’s inviting Brandi Glanville!

The hilarious part, in addition to the fact that he’s inviting her at all, is him warning Brandi that if she shows up, she’s better be on her best behavior!

This is not scripted in any way, no. Totally organic, natural interactions between the cast and engaging storylines that just fell into the producers’ laps.

At Eileen’s, Lisa Rinna thinks they need to do an intervention for Kim. On the beach, Brandi thinks SHE is the best person to help her troubled friend.

During the script reading, Kim cries about her ex-husband dying and talks about how great a friend Brandi has been to her during the whole ordeal.

Lisa Rinna then suggests Kim may be causing the problems between Kyle and Brandi to deflect attention from her. It’s probably not the worst theory.

At the surprise party, Lisa Vanderpump cannot BELIEVE Brandi got an invite, and proceeds to talk smack about her, as does everyone else really.

If you watch The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills online, you’re basically watching the Brandi show these days. Time for a spinoff, we’re thinking.

Brandi calls the other ladies the “Menopause Mamas,” jokes that Lisa is turning 73 (she’s 54) then lets everybody know that she still gets her period.

Good stuff right there. Eileen Davidson then goes up to Kyle to tell her Kim is not sober and needs help. Kyle somehow doesn’t know if Kim has a sponsor.

That scripted intervention for Richards can’t be far off. Do you think the show is using Kim’s issues as a storyline in times otherwise devoid of drama?
