The newly-incarcerated Teresa Giudice can count on the support of fellow Bravo star Tamra Barney, but fans were not kind to either one yesterday.
After the latter posted words of comfort as Teresa Giudice began her sentence in prison for fraud, Barney’s kind words ended up sparking controversy.
What else is new? Well, the kind part actually is new … but still.
The Real Housewives of Orange County star wrote on Facebook, “My Heart is breaking for Teresa and her family today. prayers for those little innocent girls.”
Kind? Compassionate? Absolutely. What’s the issue here?!
To many, her sentiments were not warmly received, as Facebook followers and slammed her for sympathizing with Giudice, a convicted “criminal.”
“Its a shame they didnt think about their kids while they were committing their crimes,” one of Tamra’s followers wrote in response to her note.
Another echoed those sentiments, writing of the teenage Gia Giudice and her younger siblings: “I feel sorry for the kids but def not for her or joe.”
“They did this to themselves and when given the chance to come clean they lied again. I read she also isn’t telling the younger girls the truth.”
“She is missing an opportunity to teach morals and values.”
As Teresa Giudice begins her 15-month sentence, Tamra’s followers believe also believe the star received special treatment with her sentence.
The Real Housewives of New Jersey stars were not given a wrist slap and avoid jail, but were still treated with kid gloves in the eyes of some fans.
“They are criminals,” another follower wrote of the family.
“Most people could live for years on what she spends in a year. Do you think other criminals get the benefit of waiting til after xmas to go to jail?”
“Or if it is a husband and wife, they take turns going so the kids have a parent home? I would expect more from you. We live in the real world.”
“I feel sorry for kids that are collateral damage and end up in foster care because of their parents. Not kids who live a priveledged [sic] life on ill gained money.”
