At first it seemed Iggy Azalea-Azealia Banks feud would just be another hip hop dust-up with fans and artists sniping at each other on social media and no real progress being made.
Unexpectedly, however, it's turned into something much larger.
Despite their shared love of flowering shrubs, Iggy and Banks come from very different backgrounds - a fact that's informed their feud and raised important questions about the thin line between homage and theft.
Basically, Banks thinks Iggy is ripping off black culture, but shows no interest in the struggles of African-Americans.
The hip hop community seems split (over the weekend, Q-Tip lectured Iggy, while T.I. defended her), but Banks knows exactly where she stands, and she fired more shots last night:
"Iggy Azalea is Satan in the Form of Mayonnaise," Banks tweeted. 'Can somebody work a root on this ho? Since she wants to play with black culture...Can someone please show her how deep and DARK it gets?"
Of course, it seems a bit strange for Banks to be preaching cultural sensitivity while at the same time calling someone a "ho," but for the most part, her arguments have been well-received thus far.
Iggy, however, isn't budging, and she seems unlikely to issue the apology Banks is looking for any time soon.
"I find it patronizing to assume I have no knowledge of something I'm influenced by," Iggy tweeted in response to Banks' latest salvo.
"But I've also grown up with strangers assuming that, so it's completely fine and I'm used to it. I don't lose sleep over it."
A group of hackers threatened to release Iggy's sex tape unless she apologizes to Banks, but it seems even that won't be enough to get the Aussie emcee to give in.
We could be in for an ugly one, here. Hopefully at some point, these two will take to dissing each other in song form, rather than just hashing it out in social media.
