First, Stefon.

Now, DeAndre Cole.

Sources have confirmed to TMZ and a number of other insiders that Kenan Thompson will depart Saturday Night Live at the conclusion of the upcoming season, which marks 40 years of this beloved sketch show being on the air.

The performer reportedly wanted to leave this spring, but was convinced to stay by producer Lorne Michaels, who cited the show’s recent turnover (Bill Hader, Kristen Wiig and Jason Sudeikis all left in 2013) in talking Thompson into another season.

He’s been with Saturday Night Live since 2003.

Some of Thompson’s best impressions include Charles Barkley, Ice Cube and Al Sharpton.

To be clear, there are no hard feelings between Thompson and anyone associated with the series. He’s leaving on good terms and plans to move to Los Angeles with his wife and new baby.

SNL returns on September 27 with a new episode. The season premiere will be hosted by Chris Pratt, with Ariana Grande as the musical guest.

A week later, Sarah Silverman will take the stage for the first time, welcoming Adam Levine and Maroon 5 as her show’s musical act.
