Suge Knight’s family has spoken out about the shooting at a West Hollywood nightclub that left the Death Row Records mogul in the ICU last weekend.

The 49-year-old is still recovering following injuries sustained when he was the target of a reported six bullets fired at a pre-VMA party hosted by Chris Brown.

“The family of Suge Knight ask that you keep Suge in your prayers and to stray away from the negativity portrayed by the media,” the family statement said.

“Suge is currently resting and has lost a lot of blood, he’s human. He’s done a lot of things for the community and the culture as a whole so we ask that you respect that.”

He has done many things for the culture overall, that can’t be denied. Whether that list of accomplishments includes ordering a hit on Biggie, we can’t say.

While eyewitnesses inside the club alleged that Chris Brown was the target of the bullets, sources close to Chris and his rep deny any sort of involvement.

No one has come forward to ID the man who fired at Suge in the club. Knight is sedated, and Brown says he has no idea who did open fire or why.

Police are investigating whether a gang rivalry was responsible for the attempt to kill Chris, Suge and rapper Game, all of whom have Bloods ties.

Two other people were injured in the shooting, including 19-year-old model Megan Hawkins, who took a 9 mm round to the posterior and is still in recovery.

Here’s hoping everyone involved comes through, and comes to their senses if they happen to have gang ties. Come on you guys. Stop the violence.
