Singer-songwriter Marianne Faithfull says in an interview with Mojo magazine this month that Jim Morrison's 1971 death was not an accident.
In fact, she claims, the star's Parisian bathtub demise was a murder.
One that her ex-boyfriend Jean de Breteuil was responsible for.
Now 67, Faithfull recalled that fateful night after she had traveled to France with de Breteuil, a heroin dealer whose clients included high-profile celebs.
They went to Morrison's Paris apartment, at 17 Rue Beautreillis.
"I could intuitively feel trouble," Faithfull recalled, resulting in her taking "a few Tuinal" and conking out. "He went to see Jim Morrison and killed him."
"I mean I'm sure it was an accident. Poor bastard."
So ... it was an accidental drug overdose murder?
"The smack was too strong? Yeah. And he died."
"And I didn't know anything about this. Anyway, everybody connected to the death of this poor guy is dead now. Except me."
While conspiracy theories regarding his death keep thriving, French authorities decided to skip the autopsy as no foul play was believed to be suspected.
As for the fate of Jean de Breiteuil?
The former dealer died of an overdose that same year. "He was a horrible guy, someone who crawled out from under a stone," Faithfull recalled.
"What I liked about him was that he had one yellow eye and one green eye," she says. "And he had a lot of dope. It was all about drugs and sex."
Faithfull also drew parallels between Morrison another fallen music legend, Amy Winehouse, who also died of drug and alcohol issues at the age of 27.
