Former reality star Jacqueline Laurita is returning to The Real Housewives of New Jersey for a few episodes later this season, as reported last week.
Bravo hopes this will provide a return to past ratings gold.
"Jacqueline wasn't happy to not be returning to the show [as a cast member] this year. She was sad about it," an insider said of the longtime star.
The ratings for the sixth season so far have been struggling badly, and fan-favorite Laurita's return might provide a necessary spark to boost viewership.
"Now that Jacqueline is coming back for a few episodes, it's Bravo's way of trying to stir up drama. And it probably will," the source close to the show said.
Laurita, 44, had been on the show five seasons but was let go after sister-in-law Dino Manzo said to fire Jacqueline and Carolina Manzo, otherwise she'd walk.
The network obliged, but may be having second thoughts now.
"Caroline was fine not doing it since she had Manzo'd With Children [a new series featuring her husband and kids] and moving on was just logical," added the source.
Not the case for Jacque, who felt spurned by the network.
Dina and Laurita's paths will likely not cross during filming, sadly, as she's reportedly only shot scenes with Teresa Giudice's cousin, Kathy Wakile.
Kathy was also a regular last season, only to be dropped.
