Breaking down into tears after taking the Ice Bucket Challenge at the outset, Carbajal then details just how “f-cking scary” this illness can be.
He says he's grateful ALS is finally in the spotlight for a bit and he then addresses critics of the Ice Bucket trend, telling them their Facebook feeds will soon go back to cat videos and Let It Go covers.
But for now? The Ice Bucket Challenge has raised millions of dollars for ALS research and he sees that as more important than whatever irritation some folks might have with it. We agree. So should you. Watch this video.
“You have no idea how every single challenge makes me feel, lifts my spirits, lifts every single ALS patient’s spirits,” Carbajal says. “You’re really, truly making a difference.”
