Mother of two Jessica Simpson married Eric Johnson in California last weekend, and the best wedding gift of all came from an unlikely source:
The publication reportedly shelled out $300,000 for exclusive rights to photos and other content from the big soiree, which Simpson said was “magical.”
Made a little more so by that donation, no doubt, by the magazine that has shelled out big bucks for similar wedding stories and images in the past.
Both Drew Barrymore and Kim Kardashian (when she wed Kris Humphries, not 'Ye) were paid handsomely by People, which approached Jessica.
“There was no bidding war,” says an insider.
The only competition People worried about was Instagram. Sources say all the guests at the lavish wedding “were told no cell phones, no photographs.”
The magazine also made sure to take care of Simpson’s collaborators, name-checking her makeup artist, hair stylist, wedding dress designer and jeweler.
The biggest mystery behind this week’s issue is whether Jess will appear with her groom or by herself, as Kim Kardashian did ... Kris wasn't "big" enough.
This is the second marriage for Simpson, who was married to Nick Lachey from 2002-06, and Johnson, who was married to Keri D’Angelo for five years.
That pair's union dissolved in 2010. The two divorcees soon met, rapidly cranked out two kids, she flubbed her wedding vows and the rest is history.
