Forbes magazine has released its annual list of the top-earning actors in Hollywood, and you may find yourself astonished not only by the stars who took the top two spots, but also by the staggering amount some A-listers pulled in this past year.

Amazingly, the highest paid actor of 2013 has managed to do it again, as Robert Downey, Jr. took home a cool $75 million thanks to his ongoing role as Tony Stark/Iron Man.

Downey played hardball before signing on to Avengers: Age of Ultron, and he’s reportedly been rewarded with his biggest pay day to date.

And just how big has Marvel’s tent pole franchise become? The number five spot on the list is none other than Thor himself, Chris Hemsworth, who – despite being paid about half what Downey pulled in last year – still took home a not-too-shabby $39 mill.

But while the actors in the gallery above certainly aren’t hurting, the movie industry ain’t what it used to be and of all the past year’s top earning actors, only RDJ (just barely) cracked the top 10 on Forbes‘ 2014 list of the most powerful entertainers.

Even so, it’s a good sign that while many of the highest paid actors earned their major bucks playing superheroes or other dudes who enjoy blowing things up, some of the most versatile and talented actors of our time are earning paychecks as big as their talent.

The most well-rounded resume on the list might belong to Bradley Cooper (number three), who’s signed on to play everything from a conflicted to 70s federal agent with a killer Louis C.K. impression (American Hustle) to a talking raccoon tasked with saving the universe (Guardians of the Galaxy).

Jump into the gallery above to see who rounds out the top ten, and decide for yourself if they deserve to earn more than the entire population of Africa combined.
