Looks like Farmer Chris might have some competition for The Bachelor.
While Andi Dorfman's beloved Iowan castoff was believed to have the job wrapped up, sources say that come 2015, he may not be The Bachelor after all.
The reason? Another fan favorite - from 2012 - is still in the running:
Arie Luyendyk Jr., the son of two-time Indianapolis 500 winner Arie Luyendyk and second-place finisher on Emily Maynard's Bachelorette season.
"Producers have already filmed him at home in Arizona, and even sent a personal trainer to get him in shape for TV," says an insider. "They think he’d be perfect.”
Emily Maynard surprisingly left Arie Luyendyk Jr. and Sean Lowe high and dry in favor of Jef Holm on the 2012 finale. Their engagement didn't last.
Lowe went on to be The Bachelor, while Arie appeared on Bachelor Pad and has certainly remained on the radar of the show's casting department.
He's briefly dated other Bachelor figures, including Courtney Robertson.
Though this potential new star has entered the mix, another insider insists Chris Soules, 32, is still a strong contender, and likely the one to beat.
“Producers are flying Chris out to meet with [Bachelor creator] Mike Fleiss,” the source says, with an announcement likely to come next Monday night.
Typically, after The Bachelorette finale, we learn who the torch is passed to. Who will it be? And what's in the note Andi got at the end of the Men Tell All?
Stay tuned, Bachelor Nation. All we can do is stay tuned.
