The Tampa Bay home of former tennis star James Blake caught fire today and police report that four dead bodies were found inside the house after the fire was extinguished.
Blake was not home at the time of the incident and the blaze of the victims have yet to be released.
Blake, who retired from playing pro tennis last August, has yet to comment on the incident.
Investigators have not yet determined the cause of the fire and new details may emerge slowly, as the home was nearly demolished by the flames.
Hillsborough County firefighters responded to 911 calls at 5:45 on Wednesday morning. Early reports indicate that police found fireworks in the home, but it is not yet known if they played a role in the tragedy.
Sadly, deaths caused by fireworks are not uncommon and many observers of the case believe the investigation will reveal that Blake's collection of pyrotechnics was the cause of the deadly blaze.
If that proves to be the case, Blake could face a variety of criminal charges and be held liable in civil suits filed by the victims' families that are certain to follow.
We will have more updates on this story as details emerge.
