Roy Costner is making headlines for his recent high school graduation speech.
But not because he offered his fellow classmates any specifically memorable life advice.
Instead, the valedictorian at Liberty High in South Carolina ripped up his preapproved script and chose instead to recite the Lord’s Prayer on stage.
The teenager made the bold move as a protest against the district, which recently banned all forms of prayer from graduation services.

And it looks like Costner will get away with this breaking of rules.
John Eby, a spokesperson for the Pickens County School District, said in a statement shortly after the video went viral:
"The bottom line is: We're not going to punish students for expressing their religious faiths."
