Duck Dynasty star Alan Robertson can be seen vehemently defending his dad, Phil Robertson, and his views on homosexuality in a new YouTube video.
Minister Alan, the eldest of Phil's four Robertson sons, called his father "a 21st Century prophet" at a speech in Washington, D.C. earlier this month.
Phil Robertson doubled down last month on the homophobic views he famously shared with GQ with a fiery sermon at his church on Easter Sunday.
The Duck Dynasty patriarch quoted from the scripture in lambasting the homosexual offenders and criticizing the media response to his interview.
Alan, the beardless Duck Dynasty brother, then spoke up for his father at a religious event earlier this month, even likening Phil to John the Baptist.
According to Alan, Phil "has the heart and mindset of a prophet" with his "long hair, long beard ... naturally camouflaged, he ate off the land and he pointed people to Christ."
Al went on to compare fans flocking to the family compound in West Monroe, La., to a modern day religious pilgrimage ... maybe a bit of a stretch.
The bottom line? While even the Robertsons would agree that Phil's anti-gay comments to GQ were coarse, they are not apologizing for their views.
In their opinion, there's no reason to. It's their religion.
Duck Dynasty Season 5 wrapped this winter, and Season 6 is scheduled to begin June 11. Whether this has any impact on that remains to be seen.
A&E probably isn't loving this latest round of publicity surrounding Phil, but on the flip side, it's Phil. Love him or hate him, these are his beliefs.
What the family believes or expresses in a religious context is not new. Delaying the show or A&E suspending Robertson again seems very unlikely.
