Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 3, entitled Sisterhood Everlasting, is in the works! The announcement of a third film comes six years after the sequel.
Alloy Entertainment, which developed the first two, announced the film based on Ann Brashares's fifth and final Sisterhood book, Sisterhood Everlasting.
Starring the fab four of Blake Lively, Alexis Bledel, America Ferrera, and Amber Tamblyn, The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants arrived in theaters in 2005.
The film was a hit among audiences and performed well at the box office. The four stars teamed up again for 2008's The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2.
The successful sequel was based not on one of the novels specifically, but as a combination of Brashares' second, third, and fourth books in the series:
The Second Summer of the Sisterhood, Girls in Pants: The Third Summer of the Sisterhood, and Forever in Blue: The Fourth Summer of the Sisterhood.
Alloy Entertainment President Les Morgenstein said in a release:
"The Sisterhood series is one of Alloy’s most cherished properties and we are looking forward to continuing its legacy with Sisterhood Everlasting."
"The original film brought together an incredible group of talent who we hope to unite for fans once again, nearly a decade after the first film was released."
The fifth book takes place years after the latest film, painting the childhood friends as grown-up adults who have fallen out of touch for some time.
Each woman now has her own life, relationships, and (at times serious) problems ... but just wait until the titular pants bring them all back together.
There is currently no official word as to whether Gossip Girl star Lively, Bledel, Ferrera, or Tamblyn will reprise their roles in the upcoming installation.
