Tatum confirmed as early as last June that the sequel was in the works saying it would be a "road trip movie."
"It will essentially be the movie that everyone thought the first one was going to be."
As long as there are more hot, half-naked dudes in the Magic Mike sequel, we're there, Channing Tatum. We're so there.
In February, Tatum name-dropped Magic Mike costar Matthew McConaughey in a hilarious selfie. Tatum held a bust of McConaughey in one hand and a notepad in the other and captioned the pic "What better way to start writing #MagicMike2 than with my old friend Dallas? #runatribe."
Magic Mike, written by Tatum, was a semi-autobiographical movie based on Channing's life as a stripper before he became an actor.
It featured a cast of hot dudes like Matt Bomer and Joe Manganiello shaking their moneymakers alongside Tatum and McConaughey and became a blockbuster and unexpected critical darling.
McConaughey even napped an Independent Spirit Award for his role in the film.
No word yet on whether or not Channing Tatum's stripper buddies will reprise their roles or if we'll see a new cast of hot, naked men on the big screen, but either way, we're buying tickets and coming.
