Jill Duggar of TLC's 19 Kids & Counting is engaged! To Derick Dillard!
The 22-year-old, who is the fourth child of Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar, will marry her boyfriend, the couple confirmed to ABC News on Wednesday.
Derick was doing missionary work in Nepal when Jim Bob connected him with Jill, and the two youngsters hit it off immediately, even if it was remotely.
"When we finally met in person in Nepal, we knew within days that we wanted to spend the rest of our lives together," Jill Duggar said in a statement.
"When my dad first introduced Derick and I [remotely], we spent hours texting, calling, and talking on Skype while 8,000 miles away from each other."
"I feel like I'm dreaming," Dillard said of his engagement.
"It was great to grab her hand for the first time."
"I am so happy," says Jill, who is studying to be a midwife. "Our story is so very unique. We have a very international story even though we live so close."
"The first time we talked, he was in Japan, we met in Nepal, he spent time in India and Israel and then came back to Arkansas where he met my family. "
Jill and her sister Jessa Duggar, 21, who is in a courtship with Ben Seewald, 18, of Hot Springs, Ark., have shared the differences between dating and courting.
The girls, along with their sisters Jana, 24, and Jinger, 20, also explain those differences in their new book Growing Up Duggar, released earlier this year.
Once the couple became engaged, they agreed that they would hold hands. Before that, only side-hugs. They will share their first kiss on their wedding day.
