Nikki Ferrell jumps off a cliff on this week’s episode of The Bachelor, but unfortunately for the rest of the girls, she is supported by ropes (and Juan Pablo).
The pediatric nurse, model and frontrunner (according to The Bachelor spoilers) freaks out on a date that involves rappelling down a rock wall.
Outside. Not one of those indoor, trendy places.
"This is scary," she admits in a confessional, after telling Juan Pablo Galavis that she’s afraid of heights. "So I either live, or I die, or I poop my pants."
"This guy is here telling me, ‘Right foot back. Right foot back,’" she continues on. "And I’m in such a panic that I can’t stop my body from shaking."
"I just can’t. I’m just, like, frozen in fear. This is the worst moment for me … you know, standing on the ledge, and having to make that first move."
Nikki Ferrell isn’t the first contestant on The Bachelor to have anxiety about one of the date activities that involves climbing, jumping or falling.
Nor will she be the last. It’s kind of a show staple.
If you missed it a few weeks back (watch The Bachelor online at TV Fanatic for past episodes), you know Chelsie broke down in tears in a similar situation.
When Juan Pablo asked her to bungee jump off a bridge, she was "truly terrified," she said through tears, but she eventually made it out of there alive.
With a hot upside-down makeout session, no less.
"So that is about as epic as a first kiss gets," she gushed. "I think if we can jump off a bridge together, we can pretty much get through anything."
There it is, people. The Bachelor as a metaphor for life and love. Will Nikki embrace the challenge and come one step closer to winning the final rose?
All we can do is stay tuned. On pins and needles.
