We're inching ever closer to live auditions on American Idol.
Last night's two-hour installment was light on singing and heavy on tension, with Jennifer Lopez, Harry Connick Jr. and Keith Urban sitting across from hopeful after hopeful and breaking their hearts or making their days.
In the end, 17 of the 30 semifinalists were announced, with the final batch set to be revealed tonight.
Did your favorite make the cut?
- Nobilette is the show's first openly gay contestant, telling he judges quite simply "I'm very obviously gay," to which they laughed and appreciated the singer's honesty.
- On the female side, Andrina Brogden stood out for her cover of Ellie Goulding's "Burn.
- On the male side, Sam Woolf (sang an original song, has a moving backstory about his mother leaving him and is a white dude with a guitar. Safe to say he's the very early favorite.
