Mindy Kaling has responded to the controversy surrounding her first-ever high-profile fashion magazine cover and the comedian has one simple message for folks:
Kaling is one of four actresses - along with Alison Williams, Amy Poehler and Zooey Deschanel - featured in the publication's Women in TV issue.
But she is the ONLY one of those four to be photographed in black and white and to be shot from up close.
Is this a subtle commentary on her race? On her curvy figure?
The critics are out in force, but Kaling Tweeted last night that everyone really needs to just calm down.
“Wishing for more skin on my @ELLEmagazine cover? Chris Messina & I are naked on a brand new #themindyproject tonight, ya pervs! 930/830 FOX," the actress wrote as a promotion for The Mindy Project.
She then added in all seriousness:
“I love my @ELLEmagazine cover. It made me feel glamorous & cool. And if anyone wants to see more of my body, go on thirteen dates with me."
Ok, not in all serioussnes. But what's why we adore Kaling, isn't it?
