Liam Payne Tweets Love for Robertson Family, Explains Controversial Support

Liam Payne got himself in a bit of trouble over Twitter yesterday.

With the cast of Duck Dynasty under scrutiny for Phil Robertson's scandalous remarks toward gays last month, the One Direction singer addressed Phil's son, Willie, and wrote:

"Huge love to you/your family huge respect for your business prosperities and the family values you still all behold. big fan."

It didn't take long for a war to then break out online between gay rights advocates and fans of Payne, who rushed to the artist's defense.

Two hours after posting the controversial Tweet, Payne himself sent another message:

"Being a fan of someones show and the way they still hold a family together doesnt mean i am ok with all they say….  just watched a show and I liked it as most people do."

That's fine, of course. But it's the family values line that caused the most outrage.

Duck Dynasty kicked off Season 5 on Wednesday to very low ratings. The series lost 3.5 million viewers from its Season 4 premiere.

Might folks be sick of the Robertsons? Might this be a one-time glitch? Might they choose to watch Duck Dynasty online instead of on TV?

And what do you think of Payne's support for the family?

He likes the show and how the family stuck together, doesn't mean he opposes gay rights at all. Jesus Christ all of this "political correctness" is getting WAY out of hand and going too far overboard. People still watch shows with Sarah Michelle Gellar in it, BUT she's a republican. Why don't people protest her shows too, since being conservative in Hollywood is so taboo? Good grief.

Lose the show. Do we really need ignorant people to tell us they believe in an imaginary being and tell us a book written entirely by men thousands of years ago can dictate who is going to an imaginary place or not because of being gay? Ridiculous, right. Lose the show.

My thoughts is that, He is a grown man. He has rights to say whatever he wants to and think what he wants to, so Nobody has to right to ask "Do you think what Liam said is okay?"
I don't support gay rights.
I don't hate or even try to conform others into my beliefs.
I don't support it because whether you believe in the bible or not, There are documents proving that Marriage was formed in Christianity, therefor why do you expect to take on a religions ceremony if you're against everything they believe? Anyways, Way to go Liam. Never feel bad about that. Today's thinking is, if you aren't Liberals, you aren't a person and have no rights to speak your mind.

Maybe folks were busy watching Harry Connick entertain on Idol, which aired at the same time. He was a hoot.
