British Olympic diving champion Tom Daley dove right into a major personal statement today, revealing via his YouTube page that he's now dating a man.
"This has been a hard decision to make, but I wanted you to hear this from me," Daley, 19, said to kick off the video (above), where he contunies:
"In spring this year my life changed massively when I met someone, and they make me feel so happy, so safe and everything just feels great."
"That someone is a guy. It did take me by surprise a little bit. It was always in my head that something like that could happen," Daley explained.
Without revealing the identity of his boyfriend, he adds:
"But it wasn't until spring this year that things just clicked. It felt right and I thought 'Okay' and my whole world changed there and then."
Daley, who won a bronze medal for Great Britain at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, hinted he's not about to put labels just yet on his sexuality.
"Of course I still fancy girls," he says, implying that he may date one again some day, "but right now I’m dating a guy and I couldn’t be happier."
