Having spent more of 2013 fighting for her life after being diagnosed with a rare blood disorder, Robin Roberts took to Facebook today and expressed gratitude to all who have been by her side during this difficult time.
Including her girlfriend. Yes, in a subtle, sentimental way, Roberts revealed to the world today that she's gay.
"I am grateful for my entire family, my long time girlfriend, Amber, and friends as we prepare to celebrate a glorious new year together," Robins wrote.
Insiders confirm that "Amber" refers to Amber Laign, a San Francisco native and a licensed massage therapist. She has been with Roberts for a decade and met the Good Morning America anchor through mutual friends.
Roberts returned full-time to the GMA desk at the end of this summer.
She has been through a great deal in the past few years, having been diagnosed with breast cancer in 2007 and receiving a bone marrow transplant from her sister early in 2013.
Along with the message of thanks, Roberts included a photo of herself and her dog from one year earlier in her post.
"Flashback 12/29/12," she wrote. "Hard to believe this was 1 year ago today ... when I reached a critical milestone of 100 days post transplant ... and KJ was finally allowed to come back home.
"Reading this comforts me and I hope the same for you. If you are depressed, you are living in the past. If you are anxious, you are living in the future. If you are at peace, you are living in the present.' At this moment I am at peace and filled with joy and gratitude."
