Bravo viewers were treated to a double dose of Teresa Giudice last night.
First, the reality star appeared with castmates on The Real Housewives of New Jersey season finale. And then, immediately afterward, she and husband Joe sat down for a pre-taped interview with Andy Cohen.
Forget the Breaking Bad finale, people, this was some riveting television!
Wiping away tears at one point, Giudice addressed the fraud charges levied against her and Joe and asked: Why is this happening to me, a question lawyers would answer by responding:
Because you illegally obtained millions of dollars in mortgages and lied about your assets in bankruptcy proceedings.
"It's devastating," Teresa told Cohen of her legal woes "I have anxiety and sleepless nights. I used to sleep like a baby, now I get up."
But Teresa referred to herself as her family's "rock" and a "big girl" and said she has every intention of fighting the 39-count indictment, which includes charges of wire fraud and bank fraud.
"We have never lived beyond our means," Joe said. "Whatever I could afford to buy I would buy. We work hard, so what, we are allowed to make money. It's part of that's what we do, I'm a business man and I make money.”
The couple will continue to live their regular lives - appearing October 6, for example, on the RHONJ reunion special - and Teresa says she's looking forward to their February trial.
"I am not crawling under a rock and hiding. That's not me. I am still going to be the person who I am and the day I go to court, when we resolve this, everyone will see who Joe and I really are. I am not just running away."
If convicted across the board, the Giudices could spent 50 years in jail.
