Jack Klugman Snubbed By Emmy Awards; Son Not Happy With Cory Monteith Tribute

Jack Klugman’s son Adam is not pleased at the perceived snub of his father, who died last December, from the main Emmy Awards tributes in 2013.

Adam described the situation as “criminal” to THR.

“My dad was at the inception of television and helped build it in the early days," he says of Jack, who was beloved for The Odd Couple and Quincy, M.E.

"It’s an insult and it really seems typical of this youth-centric culture that has an extremely short attention span and panders to only a very narrow demographic.”

In addition to the Cory Montieth Emmy tribute, James Gandolfini, Gary David Goldberg, Jonathan Winters and Jean Stapleton were also honored.

Nothing for Jack Klugman.

No one's arguing with the beloved and acclaimed Gandolfini, but it was Monteith, in particular, that drew a rebuke from Adam Klugman. He told the L.A. Times:

“They’re celebrating this self-inflicted tragedy instead of celebrating the life of my father, who won three Emmys … Cory Monteith never won an Emmy.”

Adam later clarified that he did not mean any disrespect to Cory's family.

Before the 2013 Emmys telecast, he said, “Tonight is for celebrating and I know my father would not want me or his name associated with any more negativity.”

He continued his quasi-apology, “After a certain point it becomes hurtful to Monteith family and that has never been my intent. I feel that I’ve said enough.”

Moteith's mother said her son did in fact deserve the tribute, saying, "If he had lived 30 more years he would have accomplished much more," she told the site.

What do you think: Did Cory deserve a tribute? And was Jack's son out of line or on point in his criticism of the Emmys' exclusion of his father?
