    I wish them the best out of this unfortunate situation, if we knew if the babies share the same biological mother i might think different but for now i see nothing wrong in each of them raising their own biological children.

    I don't feel that they should be separated..when my sister went through her divorce she kept 1 girl and her husband kept the other one..now the girls are grown and all they do is fight when they see each other..it's a darn shame..they should have been raised together!!!!

    They aren't twins. They weren't fertilized at the same time. Maybe I missed it but nowhere did I see that the eggs were even from the same woman, which could arguably make them "twins". One or possibly two women had their eggs harvested. At least one woman, who could be the egg donor, had embryos placed in her uterus. At best, these children were roommates, sharing a womb. I think it is great that each father has his own biological child to care for. If the couple wants to raise them as “twins”, that is there choice. I don’t agree or disagree either way, except that it is my opinion that these babies are not true twins. Maybe I’m wrong about this. Also, I don’t have a medical background and there isn’t enough information here.
    I just read an article in the newspaper about an un-married couple from Chicago that is fighting over the fate of their frozen embryos now that they have separated. She wants to continue with the IVF to have a biological child and he wants them destroyed, much like their relationship. Now that’s news worthy.

    They are twins - they were the result of ONE pregnancy from one woman. They would be considered fraternal twins.

    It says fraternal twin right in the article. They may only be half by DNA but by being fraternal they were carried at the same time by the same woman.

    @Tejas-
    You know not all mothers are nuturing. It does matter who raises these babies, as long as they are being raised with love and support. Some mothers cant even handle that kind of responsibilty. I think these two single fathers are doing the right thing. This brother and sister wil know about each other.

    Biological twins or not, they are still siblings and its wrong to split them up. What is so wrong with joint custody of both children?

    I think that people don't realize they're not really "twins." They just happened to share the same womb at the same time, they're really half siblings. How would it make sense for either of these men to give up their biological child so that a non-biological would-have-been-my-step-dad can raise them. They've made decision: to care for their children and love them as best as they can. (The silly part was having the kids to try and save their relationship.)

    they actually are twins. "But they’re still twins — albeit a rare type, called “heteropaternal superfecundation,” or twins who share a mom but have different dads. This occurs when a woman releases two eggs in one cycle, and they are fertilized by sperm from separate incidences of intercourse within the window of conception. "

    Is it possible those kids could be anymore at a loss than they already are and not a mother to be found!

    "And not a mother to be found"????? What the hell does that have to do with anything???

    You sound really close-minded. All a child need is two loving parents. The gender of each parent does not matter as long as they are capable of raising happy and healthy children. These days not many women breastfeed so who cares? You don't need to be breastfed to grow up properly. They'd probably raise them better than you'll every raise your kids, you'll only teach your kids hate.

    Babies need their mothers. It's history, it's fact. I'm sure people have been raised fine with just a father but tearing two twins apart and then not allowing them to have a mother is cruel and selfish.

    A mother is what it takes to have a nurtured child. Surely you have a mother.

    If you pay attention to the world which it's apparent you do not. Men and women alike are beginning to take on roles that used to be just man or just women. Hence men can be just a nourishing as a women. But I suppose you also believe that no matter what baby should be raised by the mother even if moms a crack head because otherwise the baby will be all kindsdof messed up from not having a mother.

    Not necessarily in this century.... I grew up with a single dad and im just fine and well nutured. A child needs a PARENT, it doesnt matter if its a father or a mother.
