Let the speculation end.

And the debate begin.

Following weeks of rumors and fake trailers, Dakota Johnson and Charlie Hunnam have been cast as the leads in the big screen adaption of Fifty Shades of Grey.

They will portray Anastasia Steele and Christian Grey, respectively.

Johnson, the daughter of actors Don Johnson and Melanie Griffith, is a 23-year old former model who appeared in The Social Network and the Fox sitcom Ben and Kate.

She reportedly beat out such major names for the role as Emma Watson and Shailene Woodley.

Hunnam, meanwhile, is best known for playing Jax Teller on FX's Sons of Anarchy and earned the gig over stars such as TVD's Ian Somerhalder.

Author E.L. James confirmed the news via Twitter. Now it's time to react:

Dakota Johnson as Anastasia Steele: A good fit for the movie?

Charlie Hunnam as Christian Grey: A good fit for the movie?

Producer Dana Brunetti Tweeted, "There is a lot that goes into casting that isn’t just looks. Talent, availability, their desire to do it, chemistry with other actor, etc." -
Yeah, right. I wonder who paid how much to get these two in? Im sure the casting couch was used quite a bit. Casting may not be all about looks - but, Shades of Grey certainly is.

I really dont mind if they give the roles to unknowns or whomever. The thing is - how they LOOK. I know we all have visions of how people in books look - but, I doubt anyone will deny these two are supposed to be gorgeous. The attraction was there for both of them. If not for the physical attraction - none of it would have happened.

Terrible choice Nepotisim @ it's best DON JOHNSON & MELANIE GRIFFITH'S DAUGHTER??? and who ever heard of this GUY @ ALL??? Shoulda been Ian Somrhalder and Nina Dobrov.

Dont you hate the way that some people use these forums to advertise?
I loved Daniel Craig from the beginning - so I cant compare that to the Grey books. I do know I was very disappointed in Tom Cruise playing Jack Reacher. For anyone that read his books, Reacher is 6'4" and 240 lbs. (not Tom Cruise!). The whole story of Grey trilogy is that these two are beautiful. Why choose actors that are only attractive, not gorgeous for the roles. I think they made the same mistake with the casting for the US version of Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. You have to wonder about Hollywood casting. Anyway - who really cares, the Grey books are trash anyway - and the movie will probably be more of the same.

I hated the book and was only gonna watch it because big names were set to star on it. Thank u producers for giving me the reason NOT to watch that garbage.

You're kidding??? This guy is no Christian Grey. Your missing out on not having Alexander Skarsguard. He may be a little older, but if you seen his character in True Blood; he is the right man.

@ conhal62

Totally agree. When you think Christian Grey, he is what the book describes.

Give them a chance...remember how everyone was disappointed when Daniel Craig was to be the next Bond replacing Pierce Brosnan? He turned out great...lets judge them after the movie is out.

@ Coco

Craig can act, always could. This guy is a crap actor, always has been. That is the difference. That and even cleaned up he is fugly as sin.

@ D

Lol! Fugly as sin?? Somehow that just made my day.
