Morgan Tapp, a 19-year-old from Murfreesboro, Tenn., called his local police department to report the theft of his safe, which happened to be full of marijuana.
Tapp reported an alleged home invasion back on August 1, telling police that the only item stolen was his safe, according to a report by WGNS Radio.
Only a few hours later, the safe was found by detectives.
But, as they waited for Tapp to come pick the thing up, a K9 officer was alerted to the safe, "indicating the odor of narcotics” was coming from inside.
Insider, they found "a half-pound of marijuana located in glass jars, plastic bags used for redistributing marijuana, a bag with pills and $930 in U.S. currency."
The victim allegedly admitted the money was his, and that he sold weed for a living, leading to an arrest for felony possession of a Schedule VI substance.
Well done, Morgan.
