So much for a big, fancy, expensive wedding
Kelly Clarkson tells People that she and fiancé Brandon Blackstock are too busy for a major celebration and will instead exchange vows via elopement. Only the couple, Brandon's two kids and a minister will be present for the ceremony.
"We just got so overwhelmed by it – all the decisions," Clarkson says. "We sent out a save-the-date to everyone and then it got crazy and all the details were leaking."
What, exactly, will these two be up to in the near future that makes it impossible to stage a huge wedding?
Clarkson has a Christmas album coming out and is teaming with State Farm to educate kids about safe driving, while Blackstock's two children are soon staring school and the manager is flying all around with clients such as Blake Shelton.
"Our whole life is a celebration," the American Idol champion says. "That's what we kept laughing about. We don't need another day where we throw a big party. Our lives are so in the spotlight all the time. Everything is such a spectacle, we were like, 'We would rather have an intimate moment that's special.'"
And it's not like Kelly hasn't recently created her own special moment.
She flashes her engagement ring and sings at a wedding reception in the video for "Tie It Up." Everyone you see in it is friends or family members of Kelly's and Brandon's. Pretty cool.
