Alex Band, the lead singer of the rock band The Calling, was abducted in Michigan this weekend, thrown into a van, beaten up and left on the train tracks.
The reasons why are entirely unclear.
Band (middle) was in Lapeer, Mich., for a music festival, when he decided to walk from his hotel to a nearby convenience store around 4 a.m. Sunday.
While he was walking, a van pulled up alongside Alex, people inside jumped out and grabbed him right off the street, pummeling him in the van.
After the beating had concluded, Band was left on nearby train tracks.
Another member of The Calling noted that he was missing later that morning and assembled a search party, and he was found a short time after that.
Alex Band's condition is unclear, but he survived. Law enforcement officials did not elaborate on the details of the attack but are investigating the situation.
The one-hit wonder group scored big in 2001 with the single "Wherever You Will Go," then broke up, then recently got back together and began touring.
