Roswell UFO Incident: Google Doodle Marks 66th Anniversary

by at .  Updated at . Comments

Google has unveiled a new Doodle to mark the 66th anniversary of the Roswell UFO incident, when aliens were believed (by some) to have landed in New Mexico.

Roswell Doodle

The Doodle is a brief point-and-click adventure game in which users must help an alien, whose UFO has crash-landed on earth, return to his home planet.

Upon completion, Google provides search results for "Roswell UFO incident."

In early July 1947, witnesses reported seeing flying saucers and unidentified material on the ground in Roswell, N.M., launching conspiracy theories galore.

The Roswell Daily Record front page proclaimed, "RAAF Captures Flying Saucer On Ranch in Roswell," referring to the Roswell Army Air Field's intelligence office.

A local rancher allegedly found the UFO on his Roswell property July 8, 1947, making for perhaps the most-cited "evidence" of extraterrestrial beings to this day.

UFOs: The real deal?
