Ray Harryhausen Dies: Stop-Motion Pioneer was 92

Ray Harryhausen, a pioneer of stop-motion animation and visual effects, has died at the age of 92.

Harryhausen, inspired by the 1933 film King Kong, began working with stop-motion and visual effects in the 1940's.

He is best known for creating the skeleton sword fight in 1963's Jason and the Argonauts.

Other works include Clash of the TitansIt Came from Beneath the Sea, and Mysterious Island.

Harryhausen has inspired generations of filmmakers, including George Lucas, Steven Spielberg, Peter Jackson, and Terry Gilliam.
