Ottavio Missioni, the founder of the Italian fashion brand world famous for its colorful designs and zigzag patterns, died Thursday this morning at his residence in Sumirago, Italy.
He was 92.
"The Missoni Family announces that Ottavio Missoni passed away peacefully at home at the age of 92, surrounded by his Family," the family said in a statement. "The day and time of his burial will be communicated soon."
Just a few months ago, a small plane carrying Ottavio's son, company CEO Vittorio Missoni, disappeared.
Ottavio, meanwhile, created his company in 1952 with wife Rosita Jelmini. Our thoughts go out to his loved ones.
