Jeanne Cooper, a soap opera star best known for her long-running role on The Young and the Restless, passed away this morning from an undisclosed illness.
She was 84 years old.
Cooper had spent a lot of time in the hospital over the past few weeks and her oldest son, actor Corbin Bernsen, confirmed the sad news today on Twitter.
“She was in peace and without fear," he wrote. "You all have been incredible in your love. In her name, share it today with others.”
Cooper starred on The Young and the Restless for four decades, portraying Katherine Chandler, a character who crossed over a couple times to The Bold and the Beautiful.
Overall, the actress collected 10 Daytime Emmy nominations, winning once in 2008 after earning a Lifetime Achievement Award in 2004. She also earned a pair of Primetime Emmy nominations.
Cooper is survived by her three children, Corbin, Colin and Caren. We send our thoughts to her family and loved ones.
