Robert Downey, Jr. May Retire from Iron Man

"Avengers, disassemble!" No wait, that's not right...

"Avengers, retire!" No...

"Avengers, explore your passion for art films!" Something's wrong.

According to Movie Fanatic, Robert Downey, Jr. may retire from Iron Man, with his Marvel contract ending after the upcoming installment.

An ankle injury on the set of Iron Man 3 caused Downey, Jr. to start thinking about his future as a superhero. "It got me thinking...How many genre movies can I do? How many follow-ups to a successful follow-up are actually fun?"

For his part, the actor is 48 years old, and can only wear an iron suit for so long before his knees and back start giving out.

But his age isn't the only reason he may call it quits. You see, the Downeys are an intellectual bunch, and he wants to explore that in his films.

"I come from a family of very innovative writers and directors and actors and artists...So there's this kind of legacy of souls from what I consider to be a very particular time in entertainment, and I'm sensing a return to that."

A little snooty, maybe. But understandable.

What do you think will happen to the character if Downey, Jr. turns "Iron Man" into "Retire-on Man?"
