Jennifer Garner is speaking out about the Ben Affleck Oscar speech that had everyone talking and may have gotten more headlines than the Oscar itself.
If you don't recall, while thanking his wife, the Argo director referred to their marriage as "work" and began rambling about their (rumored) marital problems.
"I want to thank you for working on our marriage for 10 Christmases," he says. "It’s good. It is work but the best kind of work and there’s no one I’d rather work with."
Days later, tabloids had a field day reporting that Garner and Affleck were on the verge of divorcing, but Jen says nothing could be further from the truth.
If you know Ben, she says, that was him praising her.
Garner reveals that she even had friends who questioned if their relationship was on the rocks after her husband’s "thank you," but that isn't the story.
"I had a friend call and say, 'Are you OK?” she tells The Telegraph. "I know Ben, I knew he meant it as the hugest, warmest compliment in the world."
"I think he was saying, 'Look, what we have is real and I value it above all and I’m in it with you and I know you are in it with me.' That’s the way I took it."
She even felt bad that this overshadowed his triumph.
"Poor guy," Garner said about the absurdity of it all. "It’s so horrible to put yourself out there ... he didn’t have to worry about it from my point of view."
Bo essentially ... best celebrity couple ever.
