Nude Beach Shut Down on Weekdays in Wisconsin, Overrun by Sex and Drugs

Residents in Wisconsin will need to keep their cloths on a bit more than usual after authorities announced yesterday the occasional closing of a popular nude beach.

Located about 25 miles northwest of Madison, the beach has grown into a hot spot for sexual escapades and drug deals in the surrounding woods.

As a result, the Department of Natural Resources says it will shut down the sand, islands and nearby forest on weekdays, effective immediately. All will open back up again on weekends.

Nate Kroeplin, Department of Natural Resources law enforcement supervisor, said data confirmed most illegal action takes place during the week.

“Obviously we’re disappointed when we have to shut any portion of our property down,” he said. “But our ultimate goal is to have a safe place anybody can feel comfortable using. And with the current activity going on down there, that’s just not the case.”

The executive director of Naturist Action Committee - an actual organization that lobbies on behalf of nudists - criticized the Department of Natural Resources for not conferring with patrons before closing the locale.

“Honestly, we’re on their side when it comes to enforcing things that are lewd and lascivious,” Bob Morton said. “There’s something to be said about consulting the users of the place. There’s got to be more to this somewhere.”
