Jake Davidson, the high school senior who asked Kate Upton to the prom, was being interviewed on Today when who should call in but the model herself.
"It was incredible. I was like, elation, I don't even know the word. It was surreal," said the 17-year-old senior at Milken Community H.S. in Bel Air, Calif.
He was describing how it felt to actually hear the Sports Illustrated beauty respond to his now-famous Kate Upton prom YouTube invitation this week.
"I was, like, Wow, this is actually happening?" recalled Davidson, who was being interviewed on Today when Upton called in to tell him she would "love to go."
Noting how he appeared speechless when he first heard Upton's voice, Davidson said that he actually had it all figured out - at least in his head.
"I knew exactly what I was going to say. It just didn't come out!" he said.
"Very smooth. That's a problem I have, I guess. Good thing I didn't actually see her in person, that would've been a little bit more troublesome."
He will soon get that chance, however, her schedule permitting.
"If she has time I'll make it worth her while. Roll out the red carpet, anything she wants," he said, promising to go all out for the supermodel.
"I think I could swing it, hopefully, if some things fall into place, some investments," the teen said of his plans for a Rolls Royce and other necessities.
"Then maybe we'll go to Nobu, I hear she likes Nobu a lot... Get some flowers involved. I'm still processing it because this has happened so fast."
"I can get creative with this. It will be a great night."
Especially if he can get that 11 p.m. curfew lifted.
Come on mom and dad. Just this once.
