Carly Rae Jepsen has taken a stand in favor of gay right.

By canceling a concert appearance organized by the Boy Scouts of America.

The Canadian crooner – who is currently opening for Justin Bieber in London – had been booked to perform at the National Scout Jamboree in Mount Hope, West Virginia in July.

But she announced via Twitter this morning that she was backing out of the gig and made the reason why as clear as can be:

“As an artist who believes in equality for all people, I will not be participating in the Boy Scouts of America Jamboree this summer,” Jepsen wrote. “I always have and will continue to support the LGBT community on a global level … and stay informed on the ever changing landscape in the ongoing battle for gay rights in this country and across the globe.”

Train has also canceled its appearance at the show, but has said it will gladly reverse this decision if the Boy Scouts of America reverses its policy on not allowing gays to enlist.
