A fellow hotel patron went all Mike Tyson on Game of Thrones actor Clive Mantle this week in Newcastle, the Press Association confirms, biting off his ear in response to a request to keep the noise down.

Mantle - who appeared on Season 1 of the HBO smash as Greatjon Umber - reportedly approached a guest around 4:30 a.m. Sunday and requested he lower his voice.

But the unnamed 32-year old assailant instead went after Mantle, chomping off his ear and requiring an ambulance to be called.

The severed body part was re-attached via surgery and the attacker was charged with wounding with intent.

"He is very shaken and shocked by what has happened, you don't expect this kind of thing to happen in a hotel," Mantle's spokesperson says in a statement. "The part of the ear that was bitten off was found and sewn back on. Mr Mantle said the police, ambulance and hospital staff were amazing."

Mantle was touring with The Ladykillers when the incident went down, but will now take a break from that gig.

Game of Thrones Season 3, meanwhile, premieres this Sunday on HBO.
