In addition to the J.J. Abrams-directed Star Wars: Episode VII, fans of the film series can now look forward to Han Solo and Boba Fett spinoffs!
The popular characters will be the focus of stand-alone films to go along with the main series, which will be revived in 2015, according to reports.
Just in time for the completion of the Death Star!
Writers Simon Kinberg and Lawrence Kasdan are working on a script for a Han Solo-centric film, plus a bounty-hunting tale centering on Boba Fett.
There is no release date yet for the stand-alone films, though they will likely come after Episode VII. As for when they will take place in the Star Wars timeline?
The Han Solo film is rumored to be set sometime after Episode III, and would be an origins story of a young Han. Who do you think should play him?
Solo, a smuggler with swag and a Wookie sidekick, became one of the original saga’s heroes and was famously portrayed by Harrison Ford in Episodes I-III.
As for Boba Fett, a minor but revered character in Episodes V and VI … who knows what a film about him would be like. Guy’s had like five lines of dialogue.
Fans also got a glimpse of a young Boba in Episode II, although a spinoff should do him justice better than anything in the second trilogy George Lucas ruined.
Are you excited for these Star Wars spinoffs? Is there any other character you think deserves his/her/its own movie in addition to Han and Boba?
Our vote is for Star Wars Kid. Come on, Disney. At least a cameo?
