Ashley Judd Mocked in Political Ad For Even THINKING About U.S. Senate Run

by at . Comments

Ashley Judd is considering a run for U.S. Senate, and the fact that it's even crossed her mind is enough to draw fire from potential political opponents!

American Crossroads, a Super PAC founded by Karl Rove, made the ad, calling her "an Obama-following radical Hollywood Liberal." Take a look:

Judd is considering a run in her home state of Kentucky, which explains why the ad notes that she resides in neighboring Tennessee, at least for now.

A Democrat, Judd, who just split from Dario Franchitti, would potentially take on Mitch McConnell, the Republican Senate Minority Leader in 2014.

An uphill battle in right-leaning Kentucky, for sure. But an unwinnable one? Not necessarily, as evidenced by the fact that opponents are already scrambling to "define" her.

McConnell also isn't immensely popular with conservatives (and certainly not with Bluegrass State liberals) despite his long career in the Senate.

Needless to say, American Crossroads is not a fan, and Judd would be an underdog IF she decided to try it. But it's not as far-fetched as it sounds.

Other notable actors to achieve success in politics? Fred Thompson, Sonny Bono, Al Franken, Clint Eastwood, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Ronald Reagan.

Yes, even a former president. Just saying.

Let's look at American Crossroads, the group that is attacking Judd. It's funded by billionaires and led by dirty-trickster Karl Rove. It spent over $100 million in Romney's behalf in 2012. The chairman is a former RNC chair and the president is a George Bush appointee. .... Compare AC with Judd. According to wikipedia, Judd has "become an advocate for preventing poverty ... She has met with political and religious leaders, heads of states, diplomats, and leaders on behalf of the deprived to convey the message to those who have the power to bring about political and social change." .... Given a choice between an organization that backs the rich and a woman who speaks for the poor, I'd choose the latter -- since we Americans are far more likely to end up on the poor side than the rich side, these days!

Bubblehead, Hollywood radical. She'll only embarrass herself if she even tries it.

@ napalminam

Mitch McConnell is already an embarrassment to the state: Judd could hardly be worse. And Judd COULD be a lot better, if she were willing to break with the D/R duopoly and side with the majority of her constituents, the independents. .... Scaring people away from Judd and other political newcomers is how the corrupt D/R duopoly maintains its stranglehold on power. We desperately need new ideas in this country. Let's hear what Judd has to offer before trying to silence her and trash her.

Hollywood women need to sit down and shut up!

good thing, ashley.
