Owen Groesser, Middle Schooler with Down Syndrome, Makes SportsCenter Top 10

by at . Comments

He may not have LeBron' complete game or Blake Griffin's ups, but Owen Groesser earned himself a spot on SportsCenter's Top 10 this week.

This native of Rochester Hills, Michigan - who is suffers from Down Syndrome - took the basketball court for the first time all season on Wednesday night, making like Reggie Miller by draining two three-pointers in under a minute.

He didn't trash talk Spike Lee in the process. But he did rightfully appear on ESPN for the accomplishment. Watch a clip of the inspiring shots below:

I appreciate the attention this young man with Down Syndrome received as I have a son with Down's Syndrome who plays basketball quite well. I, however, take exception with the statement "suffers with Down Syndrome" My son does not "suffer" from DS. The statement was one I would have tolerated back in the 70's but not in the 21st century. Having said that, I do want to thank you for posting this story. It is inspirational and evidence of how gifted our kiddos really are.
