Mark Zuckerberg Donates $500 MILLION to Charity
by Hilton Hater at .Mark Zuckerberg has donated $500 million to charity. No, that is not a misprint.
The Facebook CEO handed off that amount in company stock Tuesday, with the Silicon Valley Community Foundation - a nonprofit that works with donors to allocate their contributions - the beneficiary of the monumental sum.
Can Zuckerberg afford it? Oh yes: he earned $3.5 billion in November alone. Again, that is not a misprint.
But this is still an impressive gesture, of course, and it comes on the heels of his 2010 donation of $100 million to help improve Newark schools.
In a Facebook post, referring to the latest charitable move, Zuckerberg said he "will look for areas in education and health to focus on," while Silicon Valley Community Foundation CEO Emmett D. Carson added:
"Mark's generous gift will change lives and inspire others in Silicon Valley and around the globe to give back and make the world a better place."
It's been quite a good year for Zuckerberg, as Facebook went public and he married Priscilla Chan.

thanks for that!
good for Marky
Its nice, sure, but not how he got to where he is to be able to give that money. Most of the richest people wouldn't be rich if they had proper ethics, they are sharks that eat up anyone they can, like Microsoft. Oh, Mark started making it big by selling your personal information you thought was private. What a wonderful person. The richest man in the world, steals from US organizations meant to help the poor, and hes Mexican! Name a rich man and I can give you reasons they deserve to be in prison more so than any Heroin smuggler.
Great to always hear about huge donations. As the article states, he can afford it plus more. Wish I had tons of money so I could donate, but unfortunately I am not in that position.
