Might Ann Curry be headed to primetime?
The ousted Today Show anchor is reportedly being wooed by CNN and incoming new President Jeff Zucker, who starts next month and who sources tell The New York Post is hoping to shake up the ratings-challenged network.
By installing Curry in CNN’s 8 p.m. time slot and moving Anderson Cooper into the role of globetrotting correspondent.
“Jeff wants a headliner like Rachel Maddow or Bill O’Reilly in prime time,” a mole tells the newspaper. “He cannot allow the low ratings at CNN to continue... so he can’t hire a nobody. Curry fits that CNN-smarty-pants-foreign-affairs type.”
Like the program from which Curry was let go, CNN as a whole is at the bottom of the ratings barrel.
Cooper himself acknowledged the situation last week, telling CBS’ This Morning: "We’ve always done well when things are happening, and it’s in the slower times that we’ve run into problems, and I hope we figure it all out.”
