Who knows the inside of the relationship better than they do? They love each other. They take the chance that people in love take everyday with one another. It really is no one else's decision, but there's. People keep demonizing this guy for one mistake, then he responds by doing something highly emotional and stupid. He is still a young guy who needs to mature, and will have to do so in the public eye. No one likes all of their mistakes aired in public. It is what it is though. Chris even gets blamed it appears, even when someone blatantly attacks him, and he tries to defend himself. Imagine someone stalking your Twitter or conversations with others, just so that they can shoot you down verbally every chance they get. It's insane, yet Chris is the vilian in this case? He can't win so he might as well go on and live his life.
