We as black people are so damn quick to pull the race card when it so clearly not warranted. Nicking was correct in saying that Steven had never even heard her judge yet because that doesn't begin til January! So why would he even fix his mouth to say anything knowing full well of what Nicking was going to say about it. And though I thoroughly disagree withhis statement being racist, I do admit that it was a bit dissmissive and completely ignorant on his part not knowing what kind of music she listened to in the first place. How would he know what kind of judge she'd be? The whole thing does sound like sour grapes from his end if you ask me. Because while on idol he did have a very lucrative job that made him relevant again, because lets be honest he was for a long time! And the reason he quit was because his band threatened to move on without him. So its definite sour grapes on his part. He shouldve just kept his mouth shut.

I do believe that "American Idol" is not going to last because of Nicki Minaj as the new judge. It does not surprise me. But, the only thing the producers and other people responsible for the show and chosen judges are doing is committing self-destruction.

Apparently Twlilight Zone references are racist. Who knew? What happened to not speaking when you know nothing?

How does he know she wouldn't like Bob Dylan? The comment doesn't seem _racist_... but it does seem judgemental and dismissive. Because she's a pop star who makes bubblegum rap, that means she can't appreciate other styles of music? James Hetfield from Metallica went through a huge period where all he listened to was country music. I guess that came through a bit in albums like Load and Reload... but even so, it shows you artists often--in fact, I would say always--have interests outside of the music that they actually produce. Tyler is wrong for saying what he said, and Nicki is probably right that he only said it because he had sour apples. Bit of a low blow to call it racist, though. And I'm not a Nicki Minaj fan at all, just calling this how I see it.

How did this turn into a political coversation? First off as a black person I do not like to here things like blacks call out racsism every chance they get because until you have been black you cant say anything to me. Especially because I grew up in south where some white people will call you a derogatory name if you are black to your face, so until you have walked a mile in a black persons shoes you have no room to talk
