Kate Middleton Topless Photos Published; Duchess "Saddened" By Invasion of Privacy

by at . Comments

Prince William and Kate Middleton are "hugely saddened" over the "grotesque, unjustifiable invasion of privacy" by a magazine publishing topless photos of Kate.

French publication Closer printed the Kate Middleton pictures, taken during their holiday at the French chateau of the Queen's nephew, Lord Linley.

The photos are blurry and taken with a long lens, but there are four pages of photos of the couple, with Kate Middleton topless in several of them.

A spokesman for Clarence House, the Prince of Wales' office, confirmed the existence of the photos and the fact that the couple is reeling because of them:

"The incident is reminiscent of the worst excess of the paparazzi during the life of Diana, Princess of Wales, and all the more upsetting to the Duke and Duchess for being so."

"Their Royal Highnesses had every expectation of privacy in the remote house. It is unthinkable that anyone should take such photographs, let alone publish them."

"Officials acting on behalf of their Royal Highnesses are consulting with lawyers to consider what options may be available to the Duke and Duchess."

There's now stopping the publication now, in any case. See the grainy, censored but nevertheless NSFW Kate Middleton photos after the jump:

British newspapers were offered the photos last week but turned them down. Similarly, all but the Sun refused to run the Prince Harry naked photos.

The shocking photo leak comes during the couple's Asia trip and amid the persistent pregnancy rumors that follow Kate, who is said to be very upset.

Royal officials believe a "red line" has been crossed this time, and "there has been a significant hardening of William and Kate's response."

UPDATE: Kate Middleton is suing for breach of privacy.

i'm not a royalist by any means.. but you can blame the media on it.. she was holiday in the privacy of someone's villa she should be able to do what she likes without being photographed.. they should of have been there in the first place and i hope the sue the hell out of them it's bang out of order what they've done and royal or not where or entitled to our privacy and they should of been entitled to there's! and as for the whole harry incident you can't put this on the same par.. he's an idiot and she was merely enjoying a PRIVATE holiday it was a total invasion of privacy!!!!

Don't people ever learn their lesson, even if they are royals? If you know you are always under a watchful eye, especially with sophisticated camera equipment and long lens capability -- and your brother-in-law just got caught in an embarrassing situation and photos -- why would you put yourself in a situation like that by basking in the sun topless -- anywhere for that matter?????? Private property or not. Sorry, Kate, but you should have had better judgment. Quite frankly, I am a bit surprised. I thought you were smarter and had better common sense.

If it offends you..... don't pay to look at the paper/mag that printed them!! No matter if you are ROYALTY or CELEBRITY ... if you go topless in public or private, you can expect that the paparazzi will do what it takes to get the photos that the PUBLIC IS DROOLING to see!!! It is sad that the Royal family is again being pushed into this ridiculous frustrating situation..... that Princess Diana fought so hard to get away from. If the PUBLIC would stop asking for and paying to see these types of photos then there would not be a market for them!!!!!!

By the time, i got married..at a youthful age..age 19..i had learned to keep my clothes on. Maybe the Royals aren't going to a good enough church if they think playing Adam and Eve is o.k.. I might suggest the Mormon Church..cause at least they teach modesty. Now Prince Harry is fornicating...naked at pool tables. You'd think Fergie sucking on a toe would have taught them something but.....only thing the Mormon Church needs to be is pro-choice, then they'd be an o.k. religious group!!

Wow! Seriously people are really that concerned about this princesses boobies with everything else going horribly wrong in the world!?? Ya i guess we all need a mentality break, but seriously lets get a grip on whats really important...her boobies arent really a priority here!

It is a disgrace to invade their privacy.
But not pornography or shameful on her part...

No where is totally private outdoors, and all that think so are morbidly foolish. If you can be seen by a plane, by a boat, ect.. Unless you are sent to an area covered by mountains from all angles, and had to be lifted there by helicoptor, then it ain't private. If a photographer can get a shot of it, it may not be really so private. This world is breeding imbeciles.
