Rihanna: More Concerned For Chris Brown Than Herself After Attack
by Free Britney at .In her much-anticipated sit-down with Oprah, Rihanna was asked some tough questions about Chris Brown, and answered them all with tearful honesty.
Chris brutally assaulted his then-girlfriend in February 2009 after a huge argument, an altercation that injured her deeply in ways both physical and mental.
Still, she said what she felt most was sympathy towards him.
"It was a weird, confusing space to be in," Rihanna recalled.
"As angry as I was ... as angry and hurt and betrayed, I just felt like he made that mistake because he needed help. And like who's gonna help him? Nobody is gonna say he needs help. Everybody's gonna say he's a monster without looking at the source."
"And I was more concerned about him."
Rihanna tearfully told Oprah "I lost my best friend" when Brown attacked her, adding that "everything I knew switched in a night."
"And I couldn't control that, so I had to deal with that, and that's not easy for me to understand or interpret and it's not easy to interpret on camera.""Not with the world watching. So it was hard for me to even pay attention to my mind and figuring things out because now it became a circus and I felt protective."
"I felt like the only person they hate right now is him."
The troubled Brown received five years of probation with community labor and one year of domestic violence counseling stemming from the beating.
Right after the incident took place, Oprah famously took to the air to warn the Barbadian Beauty, "If a man hits you once, he will hit you again!"

I'm not supporting violence at all. My parents are married for 44yrs now and my father violently attacked my mother in the 70's. From the single eposide of violence towards her he vowed he would never put his hands on her again and he never has. All i'm saying is some people may lose control that one time. Chris Brown may or may not be a physical abuser, only time will tell. Just because you do something once it may only be a one time error. So is my father a physical abuser? He raised four daughters who are all married and none of our husbands are busting our faces up. Rihanna and only Rihanna needs to decided if and when she wants to get Chris Brown out of her system.
